Breathe
Like the way u feel after holding your breath for too long,
I now take in a deep breath;
A breath of sweet, refreshing air,
who'd think that breathing alone could be so... comforting?
After keeping the bottled emotions in check for so long,
I've let them out in measured paces;
As does a curator inspects his treasured artifacts,
so do I reflect on my precious memories.
Think the famous scene of 'Hamlet',
I stand there holding a 'skull', wherein my past lies;
Questions come forth, bombarding,
and I seek desperately for the answers to the questions I myself have come up with.
But after some time,
I think I have slowly sorted things out;
Things fall to place more easily,
although some things are left untouched...
I guess practicality takes the better of me,
and I start fiddling with older memories,
u can almost imagine the cobwebs on them;
Carefully I dust them and take a good look,
to see how I thought then, comparing to how I think now.
Have I grown? I know not the answer to that.
The newer memories though, I have left them;
new enough to be hurt thinking about it,
but old enough to be ignored easily.
For now, I am back.
Happier? Probably.
Smarter? Hopefully.
Good night and good day.
A sleepy night beckons, with the promise of a better day tomorrow.
